OMRON partners with Lamson to develop cutting-edge material handling solutions

Lamson, a specialist in materials handling solutions, is a company at the forefront of healthcare robotics in Australia.

With a proud history spanning more than 100 years, Lamson has taken healthcare automation to a new level.

Its Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) can be found in several modern aged care facilities and hospitals across Australia.

For nearly a decade, Lamson has partnered with OMRON, to deliver cutting-edge outcomes for a broad range of clients.

In the early days of this collaboration OMRON was a preferred supplier of innovative relays and PLCs.

In 2017-18, Lamson launched its aged care AMR solution.

Working with Prins Willem Alexander Village (Micare) and OMRON in Queensland, Lamson became the first company in the world to design and create a person-centred robotic system for the aged care environment.

Lamson’s technology has a strong focus on safety – particularly when dealing with the elderly and high care patients.

Using OMRON’s LD series mobile robots, Lamson designed a transportation system that dynamically moves material in challenging environments – including confined passageways and workplaces with staff on the move.

Stronger partnership

Earlier this month, OMRON strengthened its partnership with Lamson through its new Accredited System Integrator Program.

Under the program, OMRON partners with approved system integration companies in Australia and New Zealand, who install Omron Electronics’ products into end users’ facilities and OEMs Machinery.

“I’m confident the new agreement will strengthen our existing partnership,” says Lamson CTO Mahendra Garnepudi.

“Under the agreement we will be working more closely with the OMRON team,” he says.

“OMRON will provide special training for our employees to ensure a high level of technical expertise is maintained.”

And through the Accredited System Integrator Program clients can expect first-class service and on-going expert support.
