Racetrack Library for Sysmac Machine Controllers

Updated September 13, 2022

Introduction

Race Tracks are a mechanical system which comprises of two or more servo controlled belts. The purpose of this system is to receive parts at high speed and on demand, indexing as each part is received, and move the parts to an unloading area. At the unloading area, the belt can be stationary while another belt is in demand performing the product receiving task.

Typically, Race Tracks have two belts, but the Sysmac Library can control up to 4 belts simultaneously using the high speed motion engine built into the Sysmac Machine Controllers. With this library, the belt can either be configured in a vertical plane such as this system (traditional style).

However, the geometry of the belts can also be arranged like shown below. Both arrangements are ideal for allowing robots to perform group pick and place while the belt system handles the high demand on managing the parts In the below arrangement, you could imagine robots being placed at stations along the belt, and the belt system brings parts from robot to robot for a sequential assembly or similar operation.

This library is available for customers to use. Please contact your OMRON representative to discuss your application and evaluate the library for a rapid solution to your automation needs.
